Delete your Sama Sama account
Last updated: 10-21-2026
Sama Sama is made by Lucas Lukowski, an independent developer in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This page explains how to delete your account and what happens to your information when you do.
In the app
The quickest way is in the app. Open Settings, tap Delete account under Your data, and type your username to confirm. Your account is deleted right away.
If you want a copy of your things first, Export my data is in the same place.
Without the app
If you no longer have the app, you can email support@codertheory.dev from the email address on your account and ask for it to be deleted. Once I have confirmed the request, the account is deleted within 30 days.
Some accounts have no email address, for example one made with only a passkey. I have no way to check that a request for one of those really comes from its owner, so please delete it in the app.
What is deleted
Your email address, username, sign-in methods and passkeys, your account's keys, your phones' sign-ins and push tokens, your invite link, your calendar availability, your sticker pack purchases, your blocks and contact requests that were still waiting, and every chat, event, note or other space that only you were in, with its photos and files.
What is kept
- What you shared with other people. Messages, events, notes, photos and files you added to a space that other people are in stay there for them. They are still end-to-end encrypted, so the server still cannot read them, and they show as written by a deleted user. People also keep the copies already on their phones.
- An empty record of the account. The account's ID stays, with no email address, username or name on it, because what stays in shared spaces points to it. The same goes for your phones: their IDs, their models (for example "iPhone 16") and the public keys they signed messages with.
- Reports. Reports of abuse that you made, or that someone made about you, are kept until 90 days after each one is resolved, and then deleted.
The privacy policy has more about what the server keeps and why.
